Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not been able to bear children for him. But she had an Egyptian servant named Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal. So Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian servant and gave her to Abram as a wife. (This happened ten years after Abram had settled in the land of Canaan.)
Sarai, no longer expecting to have children herself, proposed to Abram that he take another wife. What we see here is that Sarai was allowing feelings of inadequacy and self doubt to take control instead of God. She was looking at the situation through her own natural thoughts and what she could do, and not looking at the situation with faith and what God could do! We do the same thing constantly in our lives. We look at situations in the natural and we base our actions off of our own abilities. We should be looking at our lives and the situations that arise with a heart full of faith and see what God does!
Take a step back and ask yourself, “Am I looking at the situations and circumstances in my life in faith or in the natural? Am I trying to fix these things through my own ability or am I believing for God and His supernatural ability?
Father God, grow my faith exponentially! Allow me to see what you are doing through the circumstances in my life. Help me to walk through these things with faith in you and your abilities and not my own! In Jesus name!
