Then the Lord said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation. Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate, and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate, and seven pairs of the birds of the heavens also, male and female, to keep their offspring alive on the face of all the earth. For in seven days I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and every living thing [that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground.” And Noah did all that the Lord had commanded him.

God called Noah righteous before this generation. Noah was different from everyone else in the culture of his time and God called that righteous. He wasn’t doing things to be cool or doing things so people wouldn’t make fun of him. He was different and it was a noticeable difference. And because of Noah’s radical faith and obedience, he and his family were saved from God’s judgement.

Am I called righteous before my generation by God? Or do I blend in with the culture around me? Do my thoughts and actions mirror that of the popular culture? Am I living out verse 5 by doing all that God has commanded? Today I will choose to live by radical faith and obedience and share the love of Christ with someone!

God help me to live out your commands and to be righteous before my generation. Let my life be a witness to the power of your transforming Holy Spirit. Give me the strength to stand out from the culture around me and be a light in a dark world. In Jesus Name, Amen.
