One day as Mordecai was on duty at the king’s gate, two of the king’s eunuchs, Bigthana and Teresh—who were guards at the door of the king’s private quarters—became angry at King Xerxes and plotted to assassinate him. But Mordecai heard about the plot and gave the information to Queen Esther. She then told the king about it and gave Mordecai credit for the report.
Mordecai was at the king’s gate for the sole purpose of checking on Esther’s welfare. But while there, he became aware of the plot against the king. Often God puts us in a position that we think is for one reason and will use us for another. Ironically, God put Mordecai in a position to save the life of the king who would declare that he and all his people should die.
Doing the right thing and the God thing isn’t so much a function of what others have or haven’t done to you. Or what they may do to you or even what the circumstances are, they are more about what God has positioned you to do. Where you are right now in your life isn’t as important as what God would like to do through you while you are there. So, are we looking for the God opportunities where we are right now or are we looking for somewhere we would rather be? When we see where we are and are willing to listen to the gentle nudging of the Holy Spirit, we just might be amazed at how God can use us right here, right now. The impact on the lives around us by stepping out in faith and being obedient to Him just might move heaven and earth.
God make me more aware of Your presence today. Give me ears to hear Your Holy Spirit. Allow my Faith to grow today by stepping out in obedience to what You are asking me to do. Father, don’t allow me to procrastinate or shrink back from what You are asking me to do but step into that thing You show me in order to bring glory and honor to you today. In Jesus name, Amen!
