But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God on this mountain.” EXODUS 3:7-12 NIV
On our recent vacation my youngest son was afraid as I held him in the ocean, as he could no longer stand. I knew I had him secure in my arms and as he shook with frightened sighs, I asked him have I ever let you down? He replied, “No, Daddy, never.” I then asked, “Why are you afraid then?” It was at that moment that it dawned on me that we as Christians often question God often due to our discomfort. We sometimes believe that we cannot be used by God because we aren’t good enough, or sometimes simply uncomfortable doing something we would never do on our own.
In order to exercise our duty to be fully devoted followers of Jesus, we must go when he tells us to go, and move as he tells us to move. What has God been telling you to do that you have been ignoring? What is your NEXT step in your walk with Christ? What can you do today that God wants you to do that makes you extremely uncomfortable? Have you confessed to a group of people (Connection Group) your struggles of discomfort? What do you plan to do about it?
Mighty God, please give me the strength when I am weak. Help me in my discomfort to remember you are sovereign and you are the living GOD who orders my steps. I pray you take me outside of my comfort zone to not only grow me, but so others may begin a relationship with You. Help me to be courageous and bold in Your name, and help me to acknowledge your word to everyone I encounter. I pray you get all the glory, honor, and praise in the name of Jesus Christ our savior. Amen.
