“And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the Lord.” Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and harsh labor. Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country.” EXODUS 6:8-11 NIV

Read Exodus 6:1-11

Moses’ interaction with God and hearing His word and promise to deliver the slaves to freedom as clearly as possible still wasn’t enough for the Israelites to believe him.

How many times in our lives do we pray about things and get a clear word from God and then when we try to report it to the world it gets shot down. Moses had a conversation with God, who made Himself so clear to him, yet when the Israelites didn’t listen, Moses started doubting it as well. When you hear God, the world will try to find every reason to tell you that it was not God that you heard. Stay strong in your promises from God and stand firm in your belief that He will always fulfill any and all promises on your life. Lastly, this message also teaches us that God will always continue to challenge us whether we think we’re succeeding or not. Moses felt like he was unsuccessful in telling the Israelites that God would deliver them to freedom and while he was dwelling on that, God’s response was to go to the Pharaoh and tell him the same message that he couldn’t even convince the slaves to believe.  Talk about a challenge…

Lord, let me hear and never doubt Your words and promises that You speak over my life. Let me have the patience to see Your promises be fulfilled without giving up on them when the world tries to convince me they won’t. Let me always be up to the challenges that You give me to help grow Your kingdom and to help me grow closer to You. Amen
