Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land. So the people of Israel walked through the middle of the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on each side! EXODUS 14:21-22 NLT

(Read Exodus 14:19-31)

God told Moses to stretch out His hand over the Red Sea, and the sea was split in two! God's plan was to allow the Israelites to cross on dry ground and to cause the Egyptians who were chasing them to drown. God did this not only to save the Israelites but also to prove to the Egyptians that He was God. Moses did what he was told, which showed his complete faith in God's plan to deliver them.

Sometimes we want to see miracles before we believe that God will actually follow through with His promises. Sometimes we want to see God work before we have the faith to believe that He will work. I want to have the kind of faith Moses had here. He lifted his hand in full confidence that God would deliver his people. Moses had so much faith, there was no room for doubt!  The truth, though, is that I doubt God sometimes. Life is hard and can take us away from the faith God is calling us to have. This world is a scary place. Any time we turn on the news, it is easy to be scared for our future. It is easy to lose faith. The world is telling us to be scared, but why should we be? We are losing faith in the fact that the God who parted a whole entire sea has a plan. HE is the one who is in control, not us. Here is another cool thing about God - He is not afraid of our fear, but He wants us to practice faith in spite of our fear so that we can experience the power of Him parting our seas! He wants us to have faith so that we can see how big He really is. He wants to bless us with His glory. He is SO good! His plans are good! Let’s trust that! Let us be more like Moses. Let’s have the kind of faith Moses had. There is no room for doubt!

God, thank You so much for showing us Your power. Thank You for being a good Father to us. Thank You so much for loving us through our weaknesses. I pray that You continue to show us Your power in our doubts. Show us how big and great You are. Overcome our anxieties and replace them with faith! You are so good. Amen!
