The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Romans 8:16 NIV
There’s an old joke about a couple that has been married for 50 years. The wife asks the husband why he never tells her he loves her, and his response is, “I told you once, if anything changes I’ll let you know.” While it’s clever and silly, we know that’s not how relationships work. Our relationship with God is no different. We need constant reminders of who we are. Isn’t it great to know that God’s Holy Spirit will continually remind us that we are, in fact, God’s children! When we start to believe lies about ourselves His Spirit says, “No! That’s not who you are, you are a beloved and precious child of God.”
When you find yourself wrestling with your worth and value, you have a choice to make. Do you accept and believe what your own brain is telling you, or what God has said?
God, help me believe what You say about me. When my spirit is doubting, help me block out the noise so I can hear clearly Your affirmation!
