Scripture
Read Matthew 6:5-18

But when you pray, go into your most private room, and, closing the door, pray to your Father, who is in secret: and your Father, who sees in secret will reward you in the open.  Matthew 6:6  AMP

Observation
What a beautiful scripture!! According to these words I see the Almighty God, creator of the universe, with the desire for intimate time with me!    Wow, that truly amazes me. He longs to meet, one on one, with me (and you).  He wants us to be genuine and real with Him, with no one else around to hear or see what transpires between us.  Precious time with my Savior.  The words spoken in private are words of the heart, not to impress people, but meant for His ears alone.
And…He even says He will reward us openly, as if spending time with the Lord is not reward enough!

Application
How often, in my “busyness” have I ignored that gentle urge to slip away to meet with the Father?  Do I even realize the importance of private personal prayer time?  I have fallen short so often, yet He still beckons me.

Prayer
Father, please help me to respond quickly to Your invitation for communion.  I will cherish the intimacy You offer. And when the opportunity arises for public prayer, I ask that I speak with faith and clarity, not to please others but, from my heart to Yours. Amen
