Read 2 Chronicles 7:12-18
For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.
2 Chronicles 7:16 NLT
Isn’t it mind boggling that He has chosen us; that He has set us apart to be holy, to honor His name forever? The God of all creation has chosen us! Then it gets even sweeter-He promises to watch over us, because we are dear to His heart! This is so hard to wrap our minds around, but it’s true. We are dear to His heart! This passage of scripture is exhorting us to look to God, especially in the hard times. In those times when everything seems to be falling apart, we need to humble ourselves and pray. We need to hear from God, believe what He says and obey his commands. He has promised that he sees us and hears our prayers. What more do we need?
What circumstance or behavior is not bringing honor to His name? What areas of my life have I not allowed Him to dwell in? Show me my areas of pride, that I might humble myself and repent.
Lord, help me to see myself with Your eyes. Help me to make my first response to look up, always turning to You first. Help me to bring everything before Your throne, especially those things I think I can handle on my own. Help me to have a humble spirit, knowing that Your ways are higher than my ways. Thank You for setting me apart and hearing my prayers.
