My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands. Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures. Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God. For the Lord grants wisdom! From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:1-6 NLT
One of the primary themes of Proverbs is wisdom. The verses above are so clear on how we are to seek out the wisdom that comes only from God. We must listen, apply our hearts, cry out to Him, seek, and search for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.
There are so many things in our lives that can distract us from truly concentrating on anything specific. The same is true with our time with God. Our jobs, circumstances, technology, or responsibilities can very easily start to distract us from truly concentrating on what God is speaking to us or trying to show us. The only way to combat distraction is to schedule time to focus! Make time today to just sit in His presence and listen. No distractions, just you and God!
Father God, help me to remove the distractions in my life that are keeping me from clearly hearing You. Open my heart to receive what You are speaking to me. Help me to seek You daily for Your wisdom, knowledge, and guidance. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
