‘’So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal’’ 2 Corinthians 4:18
We need to look beyond, and also deeper into what is in front of and around us. As we read God’s word we see and hear things others do not and that is the way God means it to be. To others it is a different language. An unknown tongue. But to us it a language of love, comfort, support and direction that not everyone hears... but you can.
I once took a group of young teens on a walk on a country road near our house. Everyone was talking to each other and enjoying the day. When we turned and started to walk back I asked everyone to stop, be quiet and listen. They heard the birds sing, felt the wind, saw the leaves move on the trees, smelt the sweet aroma of young blossoms. Were the sounds and smells hiding from us at the first half of our walk? Or was it that when we took the effort to stop, look and listen that we tasted the blessings that God was serving, and is storing for us in heaven?
Lord God, I pray that you will help me to sense Your presence, see Your majesty so I may know You better. Thank You for the gifts You have given us. May we have the heart to receive and enjoy Your gifts to us.
