“I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak His praises.” Psalm 34:1
In every day life, sometimes it can be easy to find reasons not to praise the Lord. I think most people can relate to that. We’re late to a meeting, traffic is bad, situations at work or at home, getting the kids to school on time, you name it! We’ve all used reasons like those not to praise the Lord at one time or another. The one thing this verse reminded me of is that the biggest problem in my life isn’t too great for me to lift up the name of Jesus. No matter how bad of a day I’ve had, no matter what problems or obstacles I faced, the name of Jesus is greater. Always. In John 16:33, it says that Jesus has overcome the world, and someone who did that for me deserves all the praise I can give all the time.
A lot of times, as people we allow our circumstances in life determine our praise, when it should really be the other way around. We should praise God all the time, no matter what we’re going through. Good, bad, ugly, or otherwise. I encourage you to praise God no matter what you go through today and see what happens.
God, thank You for what You’re doing in my life. Thank You for all the blessings You have poured out on my life. Give me a desire to know and love You more. Instead of complaining, I will praise You with my words and actions today. No matter what happens today good, bad, or otherwise, I will constantly speak Your praises. I surrender my heart to You today. Amen.
