Read 2 Peter 1

And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the worlds corruption caused by human desires. 2 Peter 1:4 NLT

Wow, promises that are great and precious!. As God’s people we sometimes keep our promises and sometimes we don’t. But Christ’s promises never fail. These promises help us participate in the divine nature (not God’s essence, but His holiness, including His Glory and Virtue) and escape the corruption of this world and our own human desires which continually pull us away from God.

Do I want the promises God has to offer or am I turning to the world? If I accept God and His promises but then reject the life He has given me I am lost. His divine power has given me everything I need for life and godliness through knowing Him. God’s divine nature keeps me from sin and helps me live for Him. I always try to remember if I compromise what God's promises have given me I give it all away because there is no compromise with God.

Oh Heavenly Father, thank You for Your wonderful promises. Thank You that through You and Your word I can resist the corruption in this world. How precious it is to know Your word is always with me so I can deny my flesh and turn to You. Thank You for the Holy Spirit who enables me to be strong against all the enemy's devices that tries to turn me away from You. All praise and Glory go to You, my Father.  Amen
