And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:1-2 NLT
Paul uses the phrase “living and holy” to describe our bodily sacrifice. When I dive into the meaning of the word ‘living’ I find one of the meanings is: active, vigorous. For the word holy, I find: set apart for God’s use. To me this means our lives should be active and in motion for God’s purposes.
Am I actively seeking God’s will and vigorously doing His bidding, or am I just going through the motions? What one action can I take today, right now, to be a living and holy sacrifice?
Lord, help me to become a living and holy sacrifice. Give me a vision for my life where I am set apart for you, doing Your good works. You are the most worthy goal I know. Please help me to seek Your purpose every day.
