I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. John 6:48-50 NKJV
Wow! In this scripture, Jesus provides a clear-cut, plain as day message. Your fathers ate manna and died, but I am the bread of life. God provided manna for the people of Israel while they were in the wilderness so they would not starve, and He provides for us in our daily lives, but this life will come to an end. The good news is that Jesus provides for us here as well! Jesus is the living bread from Heaven, and is available for all so that we can spend eternity with Him.
It’s easy to not feel content with what we have. We are always wanting for a better job or house, or more time to spend with friends and family, or for better talents and skills. But in the end, what will these things matter in eternity? Are we praying for more manna in the wilderness, or are we praying for our communities to have an experience with the Bread of Life?
Lord, help me fully trust in You. Show me the areas that I have been ungrateful in and help me be fulfilled in the areas where You have called me. Help me want for more people to come to the knowledge of You and worry less about my own provisions. The Lord provides. Amen!
