On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” (When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.) John 7:37-39
Jesus is literally opening up the opportunity for anyone to do God's work. He says that if we accept Him, not only will He fill us up with the Holy Spirit, but He will also ready us to pour His spirit out onto others.
Because God provides a never-ending flow of living water, I will put my trust in Him to do all things. When I feel weak and weary, I will come before God with the expectation that He can provide for my every need. Also, if any of my loved ones are feeling empty, I will ask for God's guidance to pour out His love onto them and fill them with His spirit.
God, thank You for providing me with Your Holy Spirit. I pray that You continue to fill me up with Your living Word and bring my heart courage to share the good news with my family, friends and co-workers. Amen
