Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. 1 Timothy 4:12 NLT
This letter was written by Paul to help Timothy understand how to run a church that was being attacked by false doctrine. Paul first stressed the importance of regularly training in God's Word. Then Paul encouraged Timothy to focus on living out God's Word versus letting his youth or other challenges discourage him from leading people to Jesus.
It is important that we also train ourselves to be godly (vs 7) because our faith will always be threatened whether we are going away to college, work, or even the grocery store. Sometimes, we need a little bit of encouragement to grow in and live out God's Word because the world tells us sometimes that we don't know enough or maybe that we are too young etc. Let this be encouraging to you; God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life! We ALL get to have a real, life-giving relationship with Jesus! Therefore, our age, grades, level of intelligence, race, or annual income is irrelevant; God encourages us to grow in faith and live out His Word because we ALL matter to Him!
Lord, thank You for sending Jesus as a real-life example of how You want us to live. I praise Your great name for the deposit of Your Holy Spirit who guides and fills us with Your Word. Father, send Your Holy Spirit to each and every person reading this to fill them with a burst of energy from heaven so that they may be excited and motivated to get to know You and Your Word better! Equip us Lord with power to do what pleases You so that our confidence in You cannot be shaken by the world and encourage us to seek opportunities to glorify Your name. Amen.
